Please Note:
- Dinner registration is now closed. No additional registrations can be accepted.
- Symposium registration ends at noon on Monday, August 24. On-site registration will be available at the higher rate and will not include meals.
- Check-in at the Microbial Sciences Building opens at 7:15 am on both days of the Symposium. Sessions begin promptly at 8:00 am so please arrive early!

Providing Evidence for Clinical Practice and Public Health
We invite all present and former faculty, staff, students and friends to a special anniversary event held in celebration of the 50 year mark since our department’s inception. A two day symposium featuring keynotes speakers, breakout sessions and a poster session will be held on the UW-Madison campus in the Microbial Sciences Building with a gala dinner in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union on Thursday night August 27th. Themes of the symposium
PHS in Wisconsin and Beyond: Sessions will present outreach activities such as collaborations of PHS researchers, alumni and colleagues with state, national and international organizations as well as with the School of Medicine& Public Health and other academic institutions. Session themes may include, but are not limited to: PHS around the globe, the presence of Population Health Sciences on the national scene, and Population Health Sciences improving the health of residents at the state and local level.
Providing Evidence: Sessions will address specific research findings and methods in population health science. Session themes may include, but are not limited to: Cohort and case-control studies- challenges and opportunities, issues in data collection, health economics, how to utilize existing data sources, health behaviors and risk factors, genetic origins of health and disease, health related quality of life, issues in delivering quality care, and the epidemiology and health care implications of aging, sleep, cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory conditions, infectious disease and maternal and child health.
